Andrew and I saw Good People today at Steppenwolf. I missed last year’s production with Frances McDormand in New York, although Andrew saw it twice and was excited to see it again. I can’t imagine McDormand in the role after seeing Maryann Mayberry, who broke my heart in a million pieces. Tomorrow we’re seeing Sweet Bird of Youth with Diane Lane at the Goodman, but I’m already counting this trip’s theater experience as a resounding success.
