At last night’s IRL, I shared my latest obsession: Lauren Bacall’s commercials for High Point, a decaffeinated instant coffee. First of all, Lauren Bacall is an ACTRESS. She can’t not act! It’s in her blood, everyone. Second of all, I love the concept that the coffee “captures flavor” (“flavah”) and it’s evident in the steam coming out of the coffee? Because Lauren Bacall seemingly doesn’t know what happens when you heat up water. Also, she is so even-keeled to an uncomfortable extent. I suppose that comes from indignantly disavowing caffeine. Finally, I love her smirk at the end, as if she’s up to no good (and she knows it).
